Refractometer a must?

I just bought a MDepot refractometer and found my Deep 6 to be a little off as well. 1.026 is what I thaought I had, it was actually 1.028.

What are the effects on corals and fish with hypersalinity?

I have been using that swingarm since I started reefing too. I did notice that salt hasn't been lasting that long..
