Refractometer calibration solution?

To be fair the manual for my refactometer says to use RODI TDS 0 water. I still use the solution though..

I think most state in the instructions using ro water is fine, not sure why though.

As someone already said ro water becomes less accurate once the calibration begins to swing.

Has anyone tested a ro calibration vs. a solution calibration? curious to know if it is actually inaccurate..

I do both. First with RODI then I double check with the solution. When calibrated with RODI the solution does read 35, I guess my instrument was designed with DI water.

Your instrument was truly designed for seawater and is still aligned perfectly. Having both points line up like that also means you can use the entire scale with accuracy. When you can only get one point you can only guarantee one point is right. But if you get two points you know the whole thing is right.
