refractometer question

Is it better to get the ones with the batteries that illuminate themselves or the ones that you point at a light source to see the display??

I have a refractometer that has the built-in light and I never use it (I got it with dead batteries and never replaced them). It works great with just regular lighting. Just IME.

Mine came down to money and the one without the light was cheaper and just as accurate
