Refriderator Help

I didn't loose power last night or anything like that. I think I did something when I cleaned the coils the other day. About once a month I try to vacume out the coils under the fridge. Something I was told to do a few years ago, since I have the long hair cats.
I noticed things weren't as cold yesterday morning, but they were still cold, and I heard the fridge running so I just figured my son stood the the door open for an hour before he when to school. This morning everything is totally melted and it stinks. The fridge is still running.
So what is up with that.
What all do I, should I check, before I call the landlord and break the dad news.

I'd have to agree Rena.

The only thing you might have done ( and it's pretty hard ) would have been to bend the coils to where one was pinched. Not really a chance of that happening if there is a coil guard like there is on most refrigerators.

Depending on the noise you heard it could have been a compressor running or just a fan. On some units there is a defrost timer that you MAY have hit that could cause things to defrost like that. If the timer gets stuck on the defrost cycle the compressor won't run.

I am not sure what I did, It is an old fridge, original from when the apt was built. The old land lord told me just take the fuzzy brush thing and go in the bottom on the front use the brush to loosen up the dust that get sucked up under there and vacume it away. It helps keep the coils clean and the fridge runs better, And that is all I really know. The fridge isn't making any noises, I sounds and looks as it always did. I hear the motor running as it should, the freeze has cool air blowing into it. but every thing is gone. The temp in there is 69 degrees.
I don't know if I hit something with the fuzzy brush. or it is just old. I think that fridge is about 30years old.

Yea, Last year the stove went out, when they came to try to fix it that is when they realized my stove and fridge were still original.. They wondered how they lasted so long. and how my apartment managed to still be in a time warp. I still have the original carpeting from the 70's also. The olive green shag, the burnt orange shag, and the multicolored shag in the bedrooms. That is one of the reasons I get away with so much in my apartment verses others. They already know when I move out, this place is slated for a total overhaul.

rena, that reminds me of my aunt, she lived in her place for so long that she eventually upgraded everything and was still paying the same rent she paid when she first moved in in the 80s...it was funny because she had a really big 3bd/2bath apartment and was paying like 290/month

That is about the same here. I have a 3 bedroom, but only 1 bath. I pay 475. Which is still not real cheap, but alot cheaper than I've seen most 2bedroom. Most of the other apt here run 600 for the 2bedrooms, and the 3bedrooms run 650 up to 850. That is why I haven't moved. Really can't beat the price, even thought the carpet is the uglyist carpet I've ever seen. So don't ever expect any SLASH parties here. smile

Ouch.

Hey, is everyone else's computer running slow tonight, or is it just me.
It is taking a good minute or so to get from page to page.
