Refuge?

OK, i have been veto'd on a sump. Here is my new and brilliant idea. Dont be afraid to call me moron:
Instead of sump i could get a HOB fuge from CPR or elsewhere. I could maybe put all my hradware in there (heater and maybe HOB skimmer). You think this would work?
I have a 20 L with a canopy so this would have to fit fairly flush.

any suggestions?

thanks
Jamie

check out my gallery for pics...

I use a small Aquafuge and store almost all my hardware in it(including skimmer). Works perfectly as fitration and fuge.

brilliant. your tank looks magnificent. One question though...do you like clams??:D i see that your tank runs an in sump protein skimmer, you think this would work for a cpr hang on back too? and what kind of fuge you use??

thanks

Hey Jamie, here's a list of what's in the system:

CPR Aquafuge small

Lee's CounterCurrent Skimmer small

Epik 300 (for heat and additional water movement in the fuge you can use a reg. heater as well)

Coralife Mini-Aqualight With 1-9W Actinic / 1-9W 10,000K Lamp

Has been running on this filtration and fuge system for about 3 years now and not a issue at all.

good luck, let me know if you have any questions.

Great stuff... I'm looking at there medium or large Aquafuge for my 75g, as I am sump-less. I do run a CSS 220 HOB skimmer. You think the Large Aquafuge would fit on the side of a 75g (18") I know I need to see it, but will the in / out, fit between the frame?

I think you need more clams, tanks looks empty! :lmao:

My buddy used a cpr aquafuge on his 29 and loved it. He had no other filtration. If you dont pack it full of fish it would work great.

can I tell you...you can actually build the aquafuge or go to a plastics place and have one built. all you need is the baffle design it runs on and some plumbing (if you're a DIY person, I'm not), I mean for a large system I would try to custome size it to what you need and really get creative.
