Refugium LED Light bulb

So I've been using the CF light with built in reflector from Home depot and had good growth in my refugium...that is until I bought an LED bulb. I can literally see an increase in my cheto growth daily now! Maybe my CF bulb was getting old and needed replacement?

Anyhow the bulb I used is a Par 38 LED bulb with 18- 2watt bulbs 6000-6500k
I paid $30 bucks. Just passing this along since it is working well for my refugium.

That's pretty cool. I also use a led light from Home Depot but I cheaped out and got the smaller one. It works fine but I might upgrade to the one you are using in the near future for the better spread.

yeah I always thought mine was working fine too...until I tried this one. Although Home Depot and Lowes way overcharge for their LED bulbs.

ebay...they take a couple weeks with shipping since they come from china, but half the price of Home depots and way brighter! I was hoping they would lower the price more but they aren't going much lower than 30$ if I purchased a dozen.

The Gu10 3x3w bulbs are also great for growing chaeto.

I have never seen the led light bulb par 38 at home depot. Is it just white are does it have other colors in the bulb?
I have a par 38 led light bulb but it has white, blue and red in it not sure if that is the same type of bulb.

Mine appears to just be white rated at 6500k. I have heard though that algae does like some red.

I bought a Par 38 at Lowes for $35 bucks, color is 5000K grows Cheato like crazy!
