I'm kinda old school(bioballs) and I'm helping set up a new SW system, is there a rule of thumb on lighting for a refugium? Watts per gal, or anything? What type of bulbs? Any info much appreciated!!
get one of those HD CF 6500k screw in bulbs. They are about $8 and then a clamp on fixture for about $5. I think mine is a 17w that equals 96w of light??. I run two. Melev has a better description on his site. good luck
If you are wanting to go MH, I've got a 250 watt MH ballast and 6500 k Iwasaki bulb (6 months old) for $75. You'd have to buy a reflector. That is the only MH bulb this ballast will fire.
