How much Chaetomorpha should i put in a 20 gal ref ? and what site would be good to get it from? one last question.. as i am new to this... does a refuge need to cycle?

I would let the Chaetomorpha build up until it is quite packed, then trim out a third to half of it. Rememer, the more you have, the more is there sucking up nutrients, at least to the point where it is shading itself out and part is not growing well.

Depends on what you put in it. If it is just cycled live rock, or just macroalgae, and it is attached to a cycled aqaurium, it won't cycle, no. If you add a lot of uncured live rock, yes it will.
FWIW, most macroalgae like ammonia, so do not wait to add it.
