Refugium question,

Should I do a bare bottom or sand bottom which is more beneficial? And should I run carbon and a few other things in some sections, I don't want to worry about my pods getting stuck in the sponges or bags if I put them in. Help or ideas would be great please. I'm building a 20 gallon LNG refugium. So ideas or build ideas will be really helpful. Thank you

are you just making a fuge or will there be a spot for a skimmer?

I'm just making a fuge. But where my overflow is draining it will be big enough for a skimmer later on down the road
