Refugium question

I just began running a CPR aquafuge on my 55gl. reef. I am understanding that you should run the lights on the fuge 24-7. Last night I noticed a lot residual light from the fuge in the tank. It is normally dark all night. What, if any, impact could this have on the main tank? If a probelm, any suggestions on fixing the problem would be appreciated.

You dont really need to run the light 24/7... some do & some dont...
I dont and never have had a program...

If you're using chaeto you shouldn't run the light 24/7, just have it going at night - the residual light won't affect your tank. If you're using calerpa (*gasp*), the light being on 24/7 won't hurt anything. If you have neither then it's up to you what you want to do.

You don't need it 24/7. Running it at night will help keep the pH more stable if you have chaeto or calerpa. I run mine during the day because I don't have the room for another timer. My fiance doesn't like any wires that can be seen. I would run my lights on at night if I could.

I have tried running mine 24/7, at night, and during the day. The chaeto didn't like the 24/7 schedule. It started to brown on top after about a week. Now I just run it at the same time as the main lights as I can tell no difference in water quality from an off-schedule.

i run my fuge light 18hrs, opposite my HQI. adn i use cheato if you were wondering. i wouldnt worry to much about the light, think of it as a lunar light.
