I wanted to see if I could get some help with my refugium set up. I have a 180 gal reef set up with a 80 gal 3 chamber refuge. I was hoping some could give me input on my set up to make sure I am not doing too much or not enough.
Currently the 180 gal main tank water returns on the far left side of refuge thru 200 micron filter socks where it meets my protein skimmer. A baffle separates the far left side and the middle chamber of refuge with a block filter pad. I am questioning if I should remove this block filter pad to allow more flow into middle chaeto refuge? I currently have no power heads helping with flow and was under the thought slow flow thru chaeto refuge was best. I have also heard I might want to consider gluing in a extension ledge or lip or potentially submerging a power head Maxi-jet to help increase the flow. The middle chamber is then baffled from the return compartment side on the far right by another trickle drop down over a block filter pad which I have placed a couple micron bags of carbon. I was also question if it would be a good idea to remove this block filter pad to allow more amphipods and isopods to return back to main system. I can post a photo of my sump if this will help. Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
