refugium with clams...

i recently set up a 10 gallon refugium next to my tank.
i T'ed off the main line and ran the water through a phosban reactor filled with carbon before it enters the 10 gallon.
The 10 gallon is gravity fed to the sump.
One 65 watt PC lights the fuge(50/50)

So i want to put clams in there, lots of them.
i figure since the water flow/ turn-over in there is so slow, i can pour live phyto into there and the clams should feed very well.
I'm just not sure if the slow water flow will be good for the clams or not.

What do you guys think?

probably need more light than 65w

yeah, even though its onlyn a ten gallon, 65 watts PC isn't a lot of intensity. Especially with a 50/50 bulb. I dont think clams would do well.

Now, with clams and flow, I think its a bit misunderstood. High flow is good, but it must be indirect. These clams need good flow to remove nitrogenous waste, and provide oxygen and food and so on. But strong direct flow will cause mantle disruption and poor clam health. Also pouring live phyto into s slow flow system will eventually cause an awesome nuisance algae tank.

A 65W PC will work for Quarantine for a short term holding tank for clams but not for long .
I have a Derasa under a twin refuge Lights 5100K and is growing very nice but if you are going to keep a T.Maxima or T.Crocea you gone to need more light they are shallow water clams and they get expose to some strong sun light.
