Refurbished DSLR Cameras?

I'm shopping for my first DSLR (to replace a point & shoot), and am finding some great deals on refurbished cameras.

Does anyone have any experiences with them? What kind of condition are the in when you receive them? Have you had any problems with them?

I am looking at the Nikon D5000 & found it at www.adorama.com for $525 with a 18-55 lens.

Does anyone have any experience with adorama?

Thanks

I bought my 30D from Adorama factory refurbished. Absolutely no problems, when I first took it out of the box if you put it next to a BNIB 30D you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. The important part is to make sure it factory refurbished.

I've ordered plenty of other things from Adorama as well without any issues. :)

Have not had any experience with refurbished, but I do recommend Adorama. They are a real store, like B&H, not one of those internet-only places.

I bought my D80 there refurbished for a great price. I would have done it again with the D90, but I bought it soon after it came out and there weren't any refurbs available yet. Adorama has a great reputation in the photgraphy world.

I got refurbished canon 40D in Nov 08' and only had 200 clicks on it
after 7k or so.. still going strong w/o any problems.
Some people say refurbished are better than new because technician
actually checks thoroughly and not all refurbished cameras are used
prior to inspection since some were demos, or pulled while manufacturing
from factory for minor defect. I heard nikon d5000 had advisory out
and it came out not too long ago so you should get refurbished camera
w/ low counts on it Good Luck

i have a friend who bought refurbished and saved a bunch and no problems, i wish i did. id say go for it JMO
