Regal angel and semifasciatus angel comparability?

Hi

I have a Red Sea regal angel about 5" male. I'm planning on adding a Masked Swallowtail (genicanthus fasciatus) male also approx 5".

Is anyone keeping these two fish together currently? My tank is a 120 gallon reef and it definitely isn't the final resting place. The larger tank is a year down the line.

Now, I'm prepared to keep these fish separately if I have to since I also have a 90 gallon reef that currently houses the regal angel. I was just thinking that maybe they'd both be better off in the 120.

I was planning on getting the semifasciatus after I had the large reef established but I never see these guys available. Esp a 5" male on DD. So, I've decided to get it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Go for it, I don't see any problem. I have not kept them together but I have experience with both (although my regal skills are not so hot...).

Yours and most others. I'm 0 for 3. The last one I had ate but I killed it with a secondary infection from CP... Several hundred dollar learning experience

I've been reading on here since I started this thread and it seems the male seifasciatus get aggressive and lose male coloration without a female.

The aggressiveness has me wondering if I should rethink this. There's other fish I want to add that would be Angels

Among my many angels, I do have a Regal with a trio of swallowtails (1m & 2f, not masked) ... They get along fine

I have a Red Sea Regal for about 3 years now. I have had it with a mature pair of Bellus - With no issues and no interaction at all. And after a tank crash, which the Regal survived I am now raising a pair of tiny juvenile bellus with no issues. My regal is a very shy fish and doesn't swim in the open very often. It likes to be in the caves. The Bellus are out in the open water all the time.
