Regal Angel Feedings

Hey everyone, 2 days ago I purchased a Red Sea Regal Angel (yay :fish1:). Anyways He does not have any interest in frozen foods or anything in the water column at this point. However I saw him eat flake food at the store so I'm sure with time that will change. I went out and purchased little neck clams which lucky enough he didn't hesitate to eat. My question is how many should he eat a day? I don't want to over feed or under feed. Oh and he's 5".

Thanks in advance!

As much as he can eat. I would not worry about a Regal angel over eating. Just make sure you take the left over out before you go to sleep so you don't foul the water.

I can't really help other than say do a search in the fish sub forum. There is a really good thread titled "the regal angel thread". I don't own one but have subscribed to the thread in case I want to try one in the future.

Appreciate your help. Just wanted to make sure I don't over do it. I'll continue what I'm doing for now. And thanks saf1, I read through that thread a lot. Really good information. Just couldn't find this answer on it.

@Moray26 - all good, and no worries. For some odd reason a lot of the good threads in that sub forum fall off and are hard to find. Like I said I really couldn't offer any help other than that. In either case best of luck. Pretty fish for sure and one I'd like to own one day.

I wouldn't worry about overfeeding as long as your filtration can handle it. Regals can take a while to get use to new foods, but as long as they're eating something, then you have time to work with them. I have a trio of regals in my tank and all 3 took a while to accept the foods I feed. All three also, just one day, would start eating what they previously would not accept. My oldest regal I've had for many years and my youngest is probably 2 years old. They are wonderful fish, best of luck with yours.
