He wasn't asking why you started the vote, he was asking why it is so close. If you think about it there is no reason not to QT, which is why the results of the poll are surprising, which is why he asked why it is a vote...

The argument that touchy fish should be added to the display first makes no sense, because then it is hard to target feed them and get them to accept prepared foods with gusto. Much easier done in isolation.

Then there is the disease thing, fish that don't have outward symptoms of a disease can still be carriers.

People who recommend to forgo QT usually deal with cheaper fish that readily adapt to aquarium life. Also, they have usually had bad experiences with QT fish due to their impatience. A QT is not something to be thrown together as you are acclimating the fish. (Yet another reason not to impulse buy.)

I would take this poll with a grain of salt, as anyone can vote. I would go more off the responses in it. IMO I would not trust any source, but if you are going to trust a source such as DD, then I still would advise you QT your fish, even if the only goal is to observe it and feed it in an isolated environment.

Some excellent points; the list of reasons to QT could go on forever. Many people think the sole reason of a QT is to catch ich.
I hardly consider this a "poll"; but it has become another good thread on why to QT. Has anyone else noticed that, with 1-2 exceptions, none of the "don't QT" "voters'' are not telling us why? I wish someone would take a real poll of people who leave the hobby, turnover exceeds 100% annually. I'd bet the farm that not using QT would be the bottom line reason most people give up. Whether they know it or not. There are active threads on this forum now; with posts from folks who are ready to quit and admit they should have QTd everything.
