He wasn't asking why you started the vote, he was asking why it is so close. If you think about it there is no reason not to QT, which is why the results of the poll are surprising, which is why he asked why it is a vote...
The argument that touchy fish should be added to the display first makes no sense, because then it is hard to target feed them and get them to accept prepared foods with gusto. Much easier done in isolation.
Then there is the disease thing, fish that don't have outward symptoms of a disease can still be carriers.
People who recommend to forgo QT usually deal with cheaper fish that readily adapt to aquarium life. Also, they have usually had bad experiences with QT fish due to their impatience. A QT is not something to be thrown together as you are acclimating the fish. (Yet another reason not to impulse buy.)
I would take this poll with a grain of salt, as anyone can vote. I would go more off the responses in it. IMO I would not trust any source, but if you are going to trust a source such as DD, then I still would advise you QT your fish, even if the only goal is to observe it and feed it in an isolated environment.
