Regal Angel in 90?

In my opinion if you obtain a small juvenile or even smaller sub adult, a 90 gallon tank (appropriately aqua-scaped) can work for quite a while.

I have a pair of Bandit Angels in a 93 gallon tank and I do not feel as though they are crowded at all.

I too have minimal rockwork. They key is to have enough for feeding and cover without overdoing it and crowding the water column.

No the op had stated in another thread that he has an emperor. These will both be good sized fish in the long run and I was wondering if he still had it. Could affect the decision we could give if it would be appropriate for his tank. The emperor will need to moved in the long run, though :) They are such beautiful fish....one fish for my dream tank in the basement...

How big do the Regal's grow in captivity? Wetweb says 10ish inches and much bigger in nature. A 48" x 18" footprint seems to small? Do they grow fast?

Agreed! If there is an Emp. there should be no Regal added. Also, an Emp. will quickly outgrow a 90 gallon system so be prepared......

Whats is in your tank Korrine?

I would never own an (adult) emperor again unless I had a 500+ tank. I had to remove mine from my 220 due its aggression & it was the last fish added. I would try a juvi regal if you can find one but I would remove the emp. first it will probably destroy the regal. My juvi regal has only grown about an inch or two in the 2+ years I've had it.

Yes the juv emperor (~2") is still in there with a yellow tang and a pair of false percs. I'm in the planning stages for a 240 peninsula for the emperor. Just don't want to overdo the fish list in the 90.

Do post pics and progress of your build. I love Peninsula tanks!!! :wildone:
