Regal Angel Primer

Yes it will go into the sps tank, which will be all sps and one or two BTA's for my clowns. Also what other angels would they get a long with, or could I only do 2 of these guys?

Creating a harem of regals question:

Does anyone know or have any references if the regal angels mature the same way the Genicanthus and Centropyge angels do - meaning they all start as female then the largest most dominant becomes the male?

I got mine from nyaquatics as well. Michael really knows what he is doing with Regals. Mine just passed the year mark last month. :)

JNC,
Try pro-v veggie bites. My RS regal loves them. He chases them around like a soccer ball and devours them. He also eates clams half shelled.

What are these, who are they made by? I can't seem to find them with a google search.

Any chance to keep them in soft/lps reef?
Acans, open brains, zooa's, favias etc.
I know probably your answer but it is better to ask.
ps-no, he wouldn't be in 30g

I just got a small regal from another reefer today.. The color looks a bit washed off.. Is it due to malnutrition or it is still young... It looks a bit like the xanthic regal now.. I will try to take a photo of it tml...

I would like to ask regarding the stress tolerate of regal angel... Cos my multibar have been stressing my new regal even thou they are of the same size... The regal is always being chased back into the rockscape when it come out in the open.. Will it be able to take the stress imposed by the multibar? He have some torn fin due to the multibar too...

So I broke down and got a Regal. I was holding out for just the right Red Sea variety due to their better track record. However, this one from the Marshal Islands came a long. Long story short I won him on ebay, my bid was low and I didn't think I would win but I did. :) He came in with a torn caudal fin but seems to be doing well now. Against better judgement, I did place him straight in the display after a lengthy acclimation. (so far so good) The regal has been in the tank a week now. I was told he was eating pellets but so far just clam for me. I'm hoping that he'll start eating pellets now that my sailfin has decided there is room for the both of them.

Same here. (broke down and purchased a Pacific angel) Purchased one at a LFS in the Philly area that has a good reputation. They had just received it the day before. I figured the fish had enough stress already, so I purchased it on the spot. Normally, I would have waited, and let it sit in the tank at the store to see how it's doing, but my tank is established and very peaceable. So, I knew it would have less stress at my home than at the store. The fact that the other fishes it was housed with backed away from it made me think that it may not be as shy as many.

Acclimated it, but did not quarantine. (again, my thought was that the less stress on the fish and the sooner I can put it in the tank where it is going to live the better) When introducing, it was when there were only moonlights on, not the bright HQI/T5 lighting. Again, to reduce intitial stress. I put some mysis shrimp in, and the fish picked a bit which was a great sign. The Regal has been in the tank for nearly two weeks now and has definitely made itself at home. I feed frozen mysis, and it picks from the cube, as well as some pygmy angel food and has started eating freeze-dried seaweed I place in the tank.

The only fish that harassed it at all was a Fisher's angel that I've had for quite some time. This went on for a day or so, but nothing serious. At this point, the Regal swims all over the tank and picks at the live rock. It isn't at all shy and comes out if it sees me for food.

Please note that I have several caves that I built into the live rock so it could hide if it felt threatened at all. It has many places to hide and my rock work purposely has many areas a medium fish could settle in. The fact that it ate right away, I believe, was the biggest hurdle. (the fish is 3.5" long) When I received it, the caudal fin was chewed up a bit, but not as bad as the one you have szwab. The fin is healing up nicely. Although I'm pleased that it's eating and socialization with the other occupants of the tank. Furthermore, I've done as much research as I could (including reading this long thread, as well as the usual suspects on the internet) All this being said, I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.
