Regal Angel Primer

Mine went in yesterday and is now cruising my tank happily. Unfortunately this happened on the eve of me going away for one week so fingers crossed that when I return I will still have my my acans, Lobo, elegance... [emoji51].

Had a piece of eggcrate dividing the tank so that the Powder Blue would get used to the regal and this morning when I got down it had dislodged and the regal was happily cruising with the PBT.

After going 1,5 months in QT my Regal has been in a sectioned off part of my tank so that my adult Powder blue gets used to him. He has been there for two weeks and will likely remain for another two before I open the sectioned part.

My question would be regarding LPS: he only eats pellets (like a pig) but I do have acans, lobos, and a large elegance coral on the other side. Should I remove these before allowing the regal in?

If you are concerned about the Tang - the Tang is the one that should be sectioned off - not the Regal.

The Regal needs to be the one roaming about his new tank "freely" and without any hassle from the Tang.

Your Tang already knows the in and outs of your tank - your Regal doesn't.

Your sectioning off should have been the other way around.

I ordered one too. Hoe he will arrive in good condition. Should get him in 2 days.
For those that ordered fish from LA, What is the salinity of the water they send the fish in?
One yellow belly Regal and two Tropical abalone. Discount 15% also which was great. I am trying to get two pairs. Right now I have a Blue chest pair, and a single yellow chest.

My last order was at .017
Was it that low? That is only about 20 ppt. I keep my tank at 35ppt. I am in trouble. I am not sure how I can decrease my QT (full reef) from 35 ppt to 20 ppt in 2 days without causing a lot of stress to the animals.

Does anybody else have this salinity with fish from LA

Yes. From Diver's Den it seems to be closer to typical reef keeping levels (30-35 ppt) but from the normal LiveAquaria section I typically see 20-22 ppt.

Doesn't sound like you have a QT!... Other fish in there?
I got lots of tanks and a dedicate reef system to QT new sensitive fish and invertebrates. However, I do not treat my fish prophylactically and do not treat my fish for Ich. Ich just does not last in my system.
No fish just invertebrates in this system. It is a 18X20X18 that I use to QT all my new arrivals. Most often I use it to QT anemones and clams.
I got two Malu in there, Xenia, Lots of Macro algae. Lots of Pods. Perfect system to QT new sensitive fish.

I guess I have to set up my 20 gal hospital tank at 22 ppt for this fish, increase it over several days to 35 ppt then into the QT system.
I only increase salinity though evaporation so it may take at least a week.

Yea, it's kind of a pain with it being so low. I do TTM now though so it's much easier then when I had a qt set up full time with live rock.

Congrats on the new addition! Mine arrives Wednesday, can't wait to see the guy!

Saw the one on DD for $280 sold. Seems crazy to me to pay double the price of the same fish on regular LA. Same warranty and these aren't hard to get eating.

For the fish and I Saturday was a sad day moving to Austin. But knowing the fish was going to a great reefer made me feel a little better.

Welp! Our little guy arrived today! He was delayed due to a storm in Kentucky, then they said they'd deliver him tomorrow. I called and asked if I could come get him, and they said he was buried in 1000s of packages. Hoped for the best and left, on my way out the door, UPS shows up with my package (obviously NOT buried.)!

So here he is. Looks very healthy, and has a few misbars on him, but I think it's because he's so young. I hope he keeps one of them though!

Anyway, he's into his first day of TTM now, so we'll see how he fares!
