Regal Angel Primer

Good to hear, mine is doing really well. Follows me around the tank. Hasnt bothered anything until one of the other fish took a nip at a clam, the regal decided to help out and finish it off

I've had my RA for almost 2 months. She had beome an aggressive eater. That is until yesterday. She didn't eat at feeding time. She may have nibbled on something, but only a bite or two - nothing like she had been doing.

I did a small feeding at lunch today. She picked at it a time or two, but not really eating.

It seems in reading through experiences that her not eating for a couple of days may happen from time to time. Is that correct? I'm a bit concerned by this, but not worried just yet.

Yeah thats pretty normal for her to not eat for a couple days. You may want to check your water. Sometimes when a fish goes on a hunger strike it has something to do with the water quality

I am in the process of setting up a 55 gal fowlr with a 40 long sump.I have always wanted a regal but my reef tank is too hectic for one to survive in. Just a couple questions, is a 55 big enough for an adult regal?
should i put any dither fish in the tank or let the regal have it to itself?
if you look up my posting history on this thread, you might find it a bit ironic that i am considering this fish, but it is hands down the most beautiful one i have seen. all of your successes have bouyed my confidence. thanks in advance for your responses.

A 55 gallon is large enough for a juvenile regal angel. I keep one in a 40 gallon and use pajama cardinals as dither fish. I think it's a good idea. The regal bosses the cardinals around but never damages them.

After 2 days of not eating, my RA was back to normal tonight. I fed a few large cubes (Marine Cuisine and Emeral Entree) tonight. She doesn't pick at the cubes as much as my Dogface Puffer and Naso. Instead, she usually picks at my fingers while I hold the cubes under the water's surface. She prefers to eat the small individual, floating pieces of food instead of attacking the whole frozen cube. Anyway, she seems back to normal, so I'm happy again.

Two pygoplites in a 75g SPS tank.
I have no problem with them, I only love them. The first one has been in the tank from September 2004 and the second from February 2005.

Morten,

Wow that is a very nice tank. looks like you better start planning for a larger tank with the PBT and the 2 regal in the 75gal.

I though for sure i had lost mine about four days ago. I switched over to my new 120 and while the fish were acclimating in the rubbermaid tub. The heater broke and heated the water up to about 88.

So I ended up just putting all the fish in the new tank and hoping for the best. As soon as i put my regal in he went straight to the bottom and laid on his side. I was sure he was a gonner. Well about 10 minutes later I came back and he was swimming around happy as could be.

I didnt want to post this as soon as I saw him swimming (didnt want to jinx myself) but it looks like hes going to make it now.
