Regal Angel Primer

To The Top

Cool, that's what I'll try to do. He looks at other things and seems interested, but let's them go by. He swims throughthe tank much more aggressively now.

Yesterday I tried the clams on a half shell deal and low and behold.........HE'S EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he even learned some things from my hippo tang in ways to eat clams on a half shell!!!!

Now if he starts eating some pellets, that would be awesome!!!!

I was soooo stoked when I seen him eat!!!!!!!!!!!
It was like a big weight off my chest.
I can't wait until he takes over the tank.

I put 2 sheets of Nori soaked in Garlic Guard a day in the tank, hanging from the center brace off of a acrylic tube. He gets close, but hasn't taken anything from it. On the other side of the tank I hung some red Julian Sprung seaweed, and it was gone when I got home from work. If he ate it or not? Maybe the snails got it at night.

Here's some new pics of my Regal.

He's eating clams on the half shell and starting to rip at it more aggressively when eating. I also seen him eating sponge growing in my tank. But I really think he's a closet eater. When I feed the tank with flake, spectrum pellets, ground seafood mixture etc. after a little bit he goes into the rocks. I think he's picking up food coming through, Because his belly looks packed at the end of the night.

I am putting together a 90 gallon and started reading the this thread. I had considered adding a Regal possibly once the tank was established. I am going to try to go with a pair or of Fairy Wrasses and a harem of Flashers or thee to 5 Anthias instead of the Flashers, It is about here I go hmm. I had thought of adding a Regal at that time but first are those tank mates ok? Are they to aggressive feeders for the Regal? I see some people have success it seems but do you guys have long term success. I do not want to keep having them die and adding a new Regal. That is not fair to the fish. So is the Tank large enough? Are the tankmates fine or not/ Do I really have a chance at long term success because if I do not there are other angels like swallowtail or a watanabe( sp. ?) I could use. I might put a Kole Tang in before the Regal. I am basically saying the aquarium would be over 6 months and probably nine before I placed him. I am more than willing to read the entire thread and tons more on keeping them if there is a reasonable chance he would do ok. If not well there be other tanks someday.

MarineOne - Hate to disagree. Mine has been in my 120g (4 ft long) for about a year and still going strong showing no signs of stress. Still eating just about anything I through in the tank ranging from caulerpa to frozen food.
