Regal Angel?

I can't imagine either of these fish in a 4' tank. My Idols are in an 8' tank and cover that distance with one flip of a fin. Even LA, usually on the small side for tank size recommendations (IMO) suggests 125 gal as min for either.

RRRRRRRR! It makes me soooo mad that my LFS sold their 180 gallon before I could buy it!!!! It was only $320!!!!! They said it sat in there for years and they finally sold it.....they wouldn't order anouther and sell it to me at that price. they said they could get one to me for like $700-$800 and I couldn't afford that right now....so I had to settle for the 90.

IMO and what I've heard is that idols can live in 90 gallon take s happily, because they grow 6" which is smaller than a tang. and like I theorize and know, they won't achieve that size in captivity....

I will get the 180/210 gallon tank 3-4 years. If you look at newyorksteelo's 90 gallon tank on youtube, he has A LOT of fish in his tank, and some that should be in larger tanks. I do not argee with his ways of stocking or overstocking you could call it, but his fish are doing well and somethings going right for him.....trust me I won't have that many fish in my 90. :)

regal.........

my experiance with a res sea regal....purchased jan 2010....3/4-1inch in size....purchase directly from shipping box....never added to store system....brought home, added to holding box, feed brine shrimp,ate...good...added to main tank after 2 few days...started eating everything, brine, mysis, even small pellets, now 2 years later, 2-2 1/4inches...eats anything i add to the tank, wont eat zoas, pecks at things at times, but never does any perminant damage....all the other tank mates are from the red sea/indian ocean area, nver any stress.......

Sounds like you got a good one! And it also sounds like it doesn't have that big of growth rate. about 1/2" a year. what size tank do you have?
