Regal Angelfish

Can someone explain to me...What the difference between a Regal angel from Red Sea and the other Regal angel ?? I wanna order one last week in my LFS and they asked me what location I want ?? Can't answered so I'll take information.

The fish from the red sea are more colorful due to the higher mineral content...:fish2:

Regal Angelfish collected from the red sea have a yellow breast whereas indo collected specimens have a greyish blue breast. Both are amazing fish but the yellow breasted individuals just take the show.

Another thing to note is that ALL juvenile regal angelfish (regardless of collection site) have a yellowbreast, on indo regals this fades to grey with age.

I have also heard that the Red Sea regals have a better survival rate since they are more likely to accept prepared foods. I have has a small Red Sea regal before and will be picking one up next week (lfs has it in QT and I hear it is eating mysis). I regret getting rid of mine, and have been looking for one for a few years. It is hard to find small ones, especially Red Sea variants.

Thanks a lot, I tooked lots informations in Helmut Debelius and Rudie Kuiter books those last days. I will probebly order a 3-4 inches specimen from Red Sea. When is the fishing season in the Red Sea ?

I know that the export of fishes from the Red Sea had dramatically slowed down but more Red Sea fish had been coming in the last months.

Another thing to remember is that not only Red Sea Angels have the yellow belly, specimens from the Indian Ocean also display this trait.

Ok, thank you Michael. So I'll ask for Red Sea first and Indian Ocean second. I will be patient. I slowly start a 450 gallons reef, so I have to be patient with fish. My ultimate goal is a trio of Anampse Feminimus. Already have 1

Awesome that you have an Anampse Feminimus, can you tell me what temp you keep your water at. One of my favorite wrasses!

Red Sea and Indo Regals are my very favorite's too, I have a one of each and if you get to eat what a great specimen!

Hi Brian, I keep my water ate 73 during winter time 75 summer time. All my fish seems to be happy. Got 4 kind of Anampse wrasse in my tank and they all seem to be happy.
