Regal Tang Diet

For the regal tang and other tang's in general, do people just feed seaweed sheets, or do they also take veggie flake too?

Reason I am asking is I mix up my own frozen mix and can add vegie flake if there is a chance the regal will eat it.

most all tangs will eat almost anything. My yellow tang eats frozen brine, flake food, seaweed and so on. It's pretty likely that your regal will eat your frozen mix with or without the added veggie flakes. Just be sure it gets plenty of seaweed. Tangs love algae and seaweed and it's very important for their health as tangs tend to contract diseases more easily than most other fish. I've had my yellow tang for nearly a year now and have been feeding it frozen brine, emerald frozen food with chopped shrimp and spinach in it, flake food and plenty of seaweed which i get at my LFS and have not had one problem with disease yet....knock on wood!

Hopefully he starts eating, I have offered everything, frozen mix, seaweed, veggie flake, tropical flake, and pellets.

Hes not biting yet, but hopefully he gets hungry soon and tries something.

How long do you leave the seaweed in the tank before removing it or replacing it?

You need to feed these tangs a higher percentage of meaty planktonic foods--they are unlike other tangs in this regard.

What constitutes meaty planktonic foods?

I feed a wide variety of frozen meaty foods (mysis, krill, bloodworms, brine, and a mixed diet)

I also feed veggie and meaty flakes, and a "tropical" pellet

I agree with Amphiprion. Mine love mysis, formula 1 frozen, and raw shrimp from the grocery store. Doesn't think much of the nori though.
