Regeneration GFO media with Lanthanum Chloride

I notice two products to regenerate GFO Media called Regen FX and px pro , which the regen fx clain that is not toxic and you can clean the media in less than 5 minutes, also found a DIY using drain cleaner in crystal for the one that would like to save some money. I would like to know if anyone here have ever try the drain cleaner crystal to regenerate GFO and also anyone ever try Regenerating GFO media with lanthanum chloride (seaklear phosphate remover)???

The drain cleaner probably is lye, and that should work. The Regen FX kit is for resin binders, and probably won't work, or work well, for GFO. I don't know how practical lanthanum chloride regeneration would be. It probably won't do much for organic buildup, but it should encourage leaching from the media. I suppose you could try it, but I'd probably just go for the lye if I didn't feel like experimenting.
