Regional Club Frag Swap

Hello BAR Members,

As some of you may have heard, the MARS Frag Swap that was originally planned for October, has been cancelled. In cooperation with the MARS BOD, the purpose of this message and poll is to see how much interest there might be for a Regional Club Frag Swap this Fall in the Sacramento area. I will be posting identical threads in the surrounding RC Club Forums (RARE, BAR, NVR, CVR, SEABay, and MARS).

The poll and replies will help us determine if we’ll need a small venue, large venue, or no swap at all. By the end of the week, I will peruse each thread and consult with other members on what should be done. I hope to be able to launch the event in late October or early November.

In different ways, the past few months have been rough on the aquarist community. Whether it’s due to a tank issue/loss or the shuffling of your club’s governing body, like the inhabitants we care for, we try to adapt. I want this event to allow you to take a deep breath, and enjoy one of the reasons why you got into this hobby.

Seeing new or familiar faces, sharing the fruits of our labor, and learning all over again why each of us enjoy growing sticks, plates, buttons, and wavy things in our boxes of water.

Well frag swaps are all good fun, its fun for me because I've experienced them as noob who wants anything for his tank including grabbing those 18 bags of GSP & Kenya tree at the end, to being a little more refined in what I want, I want zoos and rics but only nicer ones, or I want SPS only etc, not quite as picky as someone like Karl and his rare only stuff though .

That being said I wouldn't be absolutely devistated if there was no frag swap, but having one is something I would appreciate and attend. I had prior commitments for the last MARS swap so I didn't go.

Frag swaps are fun that way in that you evolve around them as to your tastes.

There's a magic number to determine whether or not we'll have this thing. We'll see by the end of the weekend if the polls combined can meet it.

It's interesting to see that those in the MARS forum are only about 2/3rds for it. But then again recalling numbers from the last BAR swap this voting percentage is a really small fraction of the total of those who attended.

As with others, we are looking to restock our acros as well. And since we already have a QT tank and dip protocols set up, seems like a frag swap is in order. Going to be mainly non-acro SPS from us this time around.
