This is a repost from the CTARS forum I just want to make sure it gets noticed. Don't know why the thread title is weird.
I have a yellow tang juvenile (small, about 2-3 inches at most) that has come down with black ich. He needs a good few weeks in QT with the proper feeding (when I got him he had a minor case of HLLE, it has gotten better slowly and is going away but he needs to be kept up with a varied diet of frozen, pellets, and macro algae).
The black ich was noticed probably about a week ago, and has gotten worse. It's like small black grains of salt all over. It hasn't spread to my two Clowns, and I want him out ASAP before it becomes a problem (if it hasn't already - if my clowns get it, I will give them away too). I don't want to bring this fish to a LFS because it is diseased and I am not going to put that into a system that will affect other people's future fish purchases.
If you have a quarantine, you can take him from me. I don't run a second tank, just my display. The fish looked decently healthy when I purchased minus the minor HLLE which I knew was due to poor feeding (he was being fed dried bloodworms, and that's it). If you want to QT him and give him back, that's cool. As far as I'm considered, you can keep him though. A coral trade or 20 bucks would be cool but I'm not gonna argue. For the sake of the fish, he needs a better home. He shows no distress, rubbing or 'itching' but I know it's only going to get worse in the current tank.
He's not aggressive at all, very mobile, and eats anything you put in front of him. Currently eating NLS pellets, frozen mysis, and any macro algae in the tank that I collect locally (though I'm sure nori would be just fine too). I keep him in a mixed reef.
Pickup is in Ansonia. Normally I meet when I go for trades or buys, but my schedule is really terrible lately and to be honest I doubt I'll be able to stick to a meeting date/time we set though it might happen. I'm located in Ansonia, less than 10 minutes from Bridgeport, 15 minutes from Fairfield, about 30-40 minutes from Puppy Center. Right off rt8/rt15. PM or post here. Thanks all,
Glenn
