Remora: Two weeks of collection

In their written statements, both Anthony Calfo and Steven Pro have set a standard for protein skimmer performance.

In contrast, this is what AquaC currently (08 Jan 2007) displays on its website about its Remora skimmer in a picture captioned “Two weeks of collection”

Half a cup in two weeks is a far cry from A. Calfo's and S. Pro's standard.
Is AquaC trying to brag about its Remora product or simply setting expectations?

I always got a lot more than that from my remoras.

I have a euroreef now and it doesn't come close to a cup a day.

So Grim, I know that I have read posts that you used to run a remora and can not remember which mag drives you also had used but why the switch to the euroreef and what are your conclusions between them?

This tank never had a remora on it.

I actually started using hyperflow pumps with my Remoras, beeter design for them. I used the HF6 with a standard Rmora and the 10 with the PRO.

The Euroreef is a lot better skimmer. Set and forget, just dump the cup every few days or so.

for the money, id go with a CSS65.

i just think remora's are overpriced. JMO

I have a heavily stocked (coral wise) 55 with a perc and a lawnmower blenny in it now. I feed corals cyclopeeze 1x a week and the fish every other day (lightly). I have the ER cs-80 skimmer w/ the gate vavle. I skim a tad on the wet side, but i can manage to pull a cup a day that looks like aqua c's cup colorwise. When running the stock exit pipe, grim is right. You only get a full cup every 2-4 days or so.

I have the remora pro with the mag 7 with extra large skimmate cup. I can get a cup like that in 4-5 days, but that one cup a day is not going to happen. I may get an actual cup every other day, but my tank is crystal clear and i have a small bioload. So its suffice for now.

I think it all depends on the waste in the system, when I had 2 fish I hardly got anything nasty, now that I have 5 I get more
