Remote Monitoring

Ok you tech junkies, this one is for you.

My display is upstairs and the sump is in the basement, on the other side of the house (its a complicated story).

If I wanted to purchase a monitor/controller for the system, is there a way to have a wireless or remote communication to the display and sump? Or am I stuck with buying two controllers?

Faz: Sump: reactor, ca in sump, temp; display lights, temp there as well
I am not tied to any particular product.

Chad: Yeah two areas... for the sake of discussion lets say I have an infinite budget.

You need a telemetry monitor there Gabe:D

Now we're talkin'! Just bring one of those puppies home with you one night. :)

Chad- actually the difference horizontally is not that much. Vertical is about 10 feet. The plumbing goes away from the sump/display for about 5 feet, then back (once again, don't ask, its just the way it had to be done). Since we did the plumbing, the basement has been finished with drywall ceilings (and the sump moved from the original position).

However, you can't run a wire because of where the tank is in the office and the closest spot to send it down to the basement.

I hope that made a bit of sense.

I remote mine with a Aquacontroller. You can do some cool stuff with it and home automation like JBNY has done, but that is another major expense.

What 'extras' do you have with the Aquacontroller? I presume you have to use the AC Pro with a X10 module or something like that?

Mark, thanks for the link. However, I am now more confused than when I started! Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

The biggest question I have with the AC3 that I can't seem to answer is can I control a 'Feed Timer' option from a computer wired/wireless? That is the only remote option that I 'need'.

Chad, how is that Profilux working for you? Am I right in thinking that I can control my pumps from a computer with their program... at about double the cost compared to a AC3?

Back to reading about Homeseer and voice recogniztion software!

Mark,
PC or Mac? Or does it matter because it uses a web interface???

Without doing any fancy home monitoring software/equipment, doesn't the AC3 look to be the best option in what I need for it to do? It looks like the Proiflux does a ton more, but extremely overkill for my system. Chad, when you see this, I'd love to hear about your experiences with both controllers.

It does not matter you can hit it from any browser, even my little pocket PC.

I do not know anything about a Proflux system, but I like what I can do with my ACIII.

I have my ACIII setup so that if my tank gets over 84 temp wise it will shut my lights, it will wait 20 minutes before turning them back on. If the power goes out it waits 30 minutes before turning my lights back on.

There are other things that I have it do as well.
