remove redbugs with what kind of dip?

Well,, im sure its just a matter of time before they change there habits and start a feast or famine attitude.. they will adapt and contibue to adjust to the "environments " we expose them to. In the wild im sure they have other dietary needs that we dont replicate in our closed systems.

Thats why sometimes I wonder if when i ran my reef when I lived in dallas for 9 months with a refugium and a skimmer...

Just on a whim I unplugged the skimmer tested the water after 3 days ,,, no change,, at again at 6 days ,, no change...

I ended up leaving it unplugged for 2 months and the tank was doing incredible..... I didnt have a red bug issue then either..

Ive seen frags under a mesoscope that were claimed to have been dipped with TMPCC that still had ACTIVE red bug colonies. fewer in number im sure but they werent dead.

Cool but TMPCC focuses on Flatworms and does a great job .

Also 20+ locals use TMPCC and not have reported their tank getting infect from get frags from me by choice.

So maybe dip strength and time varies. I have not seen any redbugs after a TMPCC treatment on outgoing frags.

Yeah, I had well over a dozen on my small frag, only they were not noticable at the store since all were on the underside of the frag.

I am getting ready to do my second interceptor treatment in three years. Interceptor killed out all the bugs the first time but I got stupid and lazy and one frag made it through last year around this time. The SPS that are left are really infected and it's now time to start catching shrimp again.

I went through the same thing I got them twice and did the interceptor treatment as described by Borneman each time. And now I have them again. Do to medical conditions I can't treat my tank and do the water changes that are needed.

So this time around (with a lot of help from my wife) I am going to add a few known natural predators that others have reported working. At the same time as per clkwrk I have a bottle of TMPCC on order and if I see any of my corals get too heavily infested I will dip them.

Things like what Nathan noticed keeps making me wondering if there is a different way of killing these SOB's with out nailing the other life in my tank; though at the same time it worries me even more that if these little guys start to adapt to the inteceptor and other meds we are all finished and then we will either be forced to be able to live with them or not keep coral...

I have a feeling other people are starting to wonder the same.

Just my thoghts...

WE SHOULD MAKE A BLACKLIST

where everyone lists where they bought frags or colonies infested with AEFWS and RB's

the only constraint being that you must show photos to prove it and a receipt or proof thats where you purchased it....

this would lead to the elimination of these issues

I AM GOING TO REALLY NOTE THIS IDEA

Thats crazy it is no ones fault but our own if we get any bugs. Our tanks are our responsiblity not the person we choose to get frags from.In the end it is our responsiblity to QT /inspect all incoming corals as it is our tank our money our responsiblity.

If proper QT is implied then it will be obvious if there are pests on our corals within a month.
JMHO

And at the same time I think we should dump a few million inteceptor pills mix them with TMPCC and dump it on top of all of the reefs in the world, yeah!!!!

And if we still get these pests we can use our time machines to go back and keep dosing the worlds reefs over and over again until before everyone started noticing red bugs and AEFW and cure every one of these pestes for ever !!!!! And that way we will not even know what an acro crab is or what pods are!!!!

What do all of these statements have in common?

Equally Insane.
