Removing 250w DE bulb

Hello. I recently bought a used 250w DE pendant and I am trying to remove the bulb. I am new to DE bulbs.

Does it take a lot of force to remove the bulb? I'm afraid I might break it. Do I just pull it out or is there some technique I need to employ?

funny you ask...i was just on the phone with Sunlight Supply talking to him about my 250w DE fixtures and why make it so hard to remove and replace the bulbs.

They suggested using a screwdriver near the ends and or loosening the screws. They did agree with me that its ok to start using electrical grease for now on. I started using the grease a few months ago and its night and day difference in install and removal.

wow nice to know my bulbs are a real pain to get in and out im so scarred to break a 70dollar bulb

Thanks guys. I think I'll just unscrew the sockets and then try to remove the bulb that way.

Now when you say electrical grease, is this the conducting or the non-conducting type?
