Removing a chromis

Any ideas without having to drain the tank

Just an idea, start feeding in a net or in a clear container with all pumps off. Eventually the chromis will get used to eating like that and will give you the ability to scoop it right out of the tank.

What always works for me is catch them in the morning. When you turn lights on, fishes have very slow reaction time. I catch them during that time.

If all else fails, us a size 22 hook and a mysis shrimp. Just pinch the barb and set the hook as soon as he grabs it.

use two nets. I have a smaller one and a larger one, and used the smaller one to direct it to a side I want the fish to go, then with the larger net waiting and ready, boom, trap it with the larger net against the glass. The element of surprise always works. It will help even if you drain your tank partially.
