removing an attached clam?

I just got a small maxima and i wanted to move it around to a different place in my sandbed but it has seemed to attached to my tank floor. i have about 2 inches of sugar sand so it is'nt that deep. should i just pull it off or some how pry it off? :(
 
No!!! you need to tip it to one side so you can see the byssal threads, then take a sharp knife and cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can

exacto knife works well, but I have used a utility knife blade too.

Ripping the gland off by prying can "shorten" the life span of the clam to days:mad2:
