removing an attached clam?

I just got a small maxima and i wanted to move it around to a different place in my sandbed but it has seemed to attached to my tank floor. i have about 2 inches of sugar sand so it is'nt that deep. should i just pull it off or some how pry it off?

No!!! you need to tip it to one side so you can see the byssal threads, then take a sharp knife and cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can

darn is that the only way? will it come off on its own later?

if it is attached then it is very possible that it likes the spot where it is right now.

exacto knife works well, but I have used a utility knife blade too.

Ripping the gland off by prying can "shorten" the life span of the clam to days:mad2:
