Removing Encrusted Corraline Algae from a used tank

I just purchased a used all glass tank which has encrusted corraline algae all over the overflow section (megaflow ie the
plastic piece ) obstructing some of the holes. The tank is reef ready and there is coraline algae on the sides of the tank.

Ironically I love it but I must clean it for proper operation.

Any advice on removing it. Currently I have filled the tank with tap water hoping the algae would soften up and disolve since there is no calcium, magnesium in the water.

Any ideas

Soak it down with vinegar and it'll soften up a LOT then you just wipe/scrape it off. Then rinse it well.

That's what I did on the used 75 and 200 GAL I got. Works like a charm.

I just filled a spray bottle with Vinegar and water (about 1/2 and 1/2) and kept it soaked for a few minutes then went to town with one of those green pads you get from the lfs for scrubbing algae off tank glass.
