Removing live rock??

I have a quick question about completely removing a piece of live rock from my tank...I've got 40g IM Nuvo tank with right around 25 -30 lbs of live rock already cycled and parameters good. I want to remove a piece of live rock to hopefully promote a little more fish activity..my chronic and clown pair stay on the left side of my tank and don't move around the tank much except during feeding...Will there be any negative consequences if I remove one of my grapefruit sized pieces of rock to clear out a little swimming space??..I think it will give me a little bit more level space to add a few more corals as well..

Please advise!!

Removing the rock isn't going to cause any issues, but it may not solve your problem either. Clowns tend to stay pretty close to home. If you start to add more fish, you may need more LR again.

Here's about a month old pic...all the fish stay on that side of the tank unless feeding..I was planning on moving that softball sized chunk right above the clown and chromis...as of now the only other fish I have is a flame angel in QT(I think I'm a fish limit 😒)

Removing rock wont cause anything bad to happen, but dont expect your clown to start swimming all around the tank. Every clown I have had usually just stays in there little area and only swims out for food. If you put an anemone in with it, they just always stay close to where they host.

:lolspin:

this is my daily struggle.

i have a 6 foot long tank, and most of my fish (yellow tang, copperbanded butterfly, 4 anthias, 2 clowns, lawnmower blenny, and mandarin) all seem to gravitate to one side of the tank.

it drives me nuts when i walk in and they're all cloistered in a corner. you have all this room to swim, use it!

so, like Ron said, it may or may not solve your problem. my clowns like to stay fairly close to their chosen spot most of the time, only rarely venturing out to other areas.
