I have a large rock that has been over taken with "ugly" palys. I would like to remove the palys without destroying the rock. It would be impossible to pull all of the polyps off. There are too many nooks and crannies. If I leave the rock out of the water for days will they die? The rock is removable from the tank. Please dont tell me I am a murderer unless you want them in your tank. I would need too much aptasia x to kill them. I could buy a new rock for less. Do I dry them out, boil them out, freshwater them out or freeze them out? I dont want any survivors.

Other option is cover them with epoxy putty, either leave it on indefinitely or take it off after they have died. I have done this to slow yellow polyps.

I feel your pain. I would act aggressively while they are confined to one rock. I tried the putty pancake for over 2 months and they survived.

How big is the rock, Paul? If it fits in a salt bucket, you could hit it with muriatic acid solution overnight.

if it was a small section I would torch with a propane torch, rinse well with old tank water, brush off, rinse some more and put it back. with a large area that might not be a good idea
