Removing Ricordea Mushroom

How do I remove a Ricordea Mushroom from a rock? Can I just peel it off the rock? Whats the best way?

You can try to peel it off the rock, but they are usually pretty firmly attached. The chance of accidentally tearing it is pretty high. I'd suggest removing the rock and use a chisel and hammer to chunk off a bit of the rock under it's foot.

You could try a razor blade to peel it away slowly, though they don't seen to attach like a mushroom. As Sugar_Magnolia stated, your best option is likely to chisel it off.

Depending on your rock density you may try a strong knife. My rock is porous enough that I can actually force a knife into it. Worth a shot, just don't stab yourself!

Why are you trying to remove it? Are you selling it, moving it to a better viewing location or is it bothering neighboring corals?

I removed a few of mine by carefully cutting the foot away from the rock with a razor. I even cut into one of them a little too much and worried it wouldn't make it but it bounced right back. I was really nervous about it but it was easier that I expected :)

i tried to pull one off once. it was really difficult but once i got it off i got a surprise, there was a baby one right underneath!
