Removing Threads

This is just great.

I have been a long time member of this board, and it turns out it's the little things that send me packing.

I just want to express my discontent with the mod/mods that decided to remove, not close my thread requesting advise about how to get rid of my machine. There was a reponse to the thread that I did not get ot read because it was removed. It would be nice to be notified if something like this were going to happen. If it was closed I would understand, but to remove it completely??

I was not attempting to sell it here on RC, though I did recieve a few PM's expressing interest in buying it. And yes I did reply to them. The thread was well within what I thought the "rules" were.

If it was deleted for being OT........ well look around, I see other OT threads floating around out there that are surviving just fine.

Thanks Again,
Chris

I'm sure bandwith is one excuse for the threads being removed (not wanting to waste it on non reef threads), but that's total b.s.. People pay 20+ bucks to be a member and get very very little for it. A search engine that is only made nonfunctional so that you buy a membership, and increased mail space. I have been visiting here a year, posting for a few months and haven't seen a upgrade on the membership "benifits". They have to have 1000+ paying members. That should be more than enough to support this place and put quite a few bucks in the owners pocket. If the owner wasn't making money this place would be gone. I've been to many places and seen many mods abuse their power, because they are either ignorant to the "rules" or have their own interpertation of them. I just think it's sad that they drive away paying members. Owning a site is about making a profit...it's a business. And like any other business good clients or customers should be given some slack. just sayin'.

Your thread was removed because you were:

"looking to sell... pepsi machine"

Looking to sell threads in the club forum are ok (to some extent) as long as they are reef-related. Looking to sell non reef-related items are not allowed and therefore removed.

We do not want this forum or board where everybody sells just about anything. We have been doing this for a long time and THAT is the reason why this board has a wealth of information WITHOUT non reef-related material. When people come to our board, they are looking for reef-related information. Our rules are made and applied to serve that need.

If you feel that there are other OT threads with non reef-related items, feel free to report them to a moderator and they will be removed. We have over 9000 threads every day and only about 30 moderators so you can understand how it is impossible for us to catch them all.

Non reef-related items + looking to sell = not allowed.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Carlos

I was not looking to sell on this site. I was seeking the advise of locals who may have had hard to sell items in the past and have routes to deal with them.

Be that as it is, it really doesn't matter. Mods will be Mods.

As far as reporting other OT threads. That's really not the point is it? I'm not going to run around and point fingers. It none of my business.

This is a social board, especially within the club forums. If it is not then I have no reason to post here any longer. Asking advise is something I felt was well with-in the UA, but o well.

Not really worth the time to discuss it.

Carlos,

Thanks for your reply to BOTR.

We appreciate your input to help all of us better understand what can be posted on the forum.

I guess the bottom line is it's a reef site. As much as I think that not letting any OT stuff is b.s. it's their rules. I come here to learn and I go to a different online forum to have fun ( i really like no rules...lol). So I'll keep it reef here and fun there. No biggie.

4 well, can't really tie in the cross dressing yet but am working on it
5. late night posters need spell check
and much more has been learned

"looking to sell"

We do cut slack here or that thread would be also moved but we all know that that thread was intended for good fun. Yes, mods do have a sense of humor as well.. believe it or not.

The thread that was removed had an actual non reef-related item for sale.

Hope that helps.

Carlos

I don't know how to explain without the thread, but I need to say that the thread had nothing in it For Sale.

Please stop saying I was trying to sell something on this board. I even made a post trying to clear the confusion. Your misquoting of me is really beginning to bother me. Please stop. Lock the thread, remove it or whatever, but don't continue to misquote me.

Not trying to be offensive, but if you read the thread you would see that I did try to avoid this very situation. Again I had nothing in my post about using this site to sell non-reef related items.
