Removing zoas from bb tank

Has anyone tried removing zoas that have grown off the rocks onto the tank wall? Curious to hear what the best techniques would be, and if I have any chance of removing the mat intact to glue down to another rock, or if it will just fall apart..

if they grew on to corraline growth that would be perfect. even if they didnt i think you'd be able to slide a razor underneath. get the gel superglue to glue them

i have done the razor blade technique works well IME.
if you're are detaching from the main colony i suggest an x-acto or scalpel just for its accuracy.

I agree with both. Most likely you will have some coralline on the glass and this is a perfect surface to add a dab of glue to secure the newly cut away frag to a rock. This works great and the success of the frag is greatly improved as you are gluing a coralline layer to the rock and not actual glue touching the base of the polyps. I did this a lot with my old tank as I allowed polyps to grow onto the glass. I try to discourage that now by place lots of rock around and proliferating polyps moving near the glass in my tank.
