Repairing a collection cup

I ordered a Tunze skimmer back in November from Prem. Aquatics.
It was shipped with a cracked collection cup, which they quickly sent another 'replacement' cup. Prem Aqu. filed a damage waiver with UPS, and I've been waiting for UPS to come retrieve the box and cup for inspection, and it appears they don't need it. I even emailed Prem. Aquatics, and they told me just to 'pitch it'.

Now for my question.....the cup is plastic. Since these things run about $90 for a replacement, I'd like to make this cracked cup a backup. What's the best kind of glue to bond the crack? Superglue?

Super glue will just make a mess. It is more than likely acrylic so "weld on" is the type of glue it will need. There is a dealer in Nashville. Get the syrupy type, the others are like water. I have a tube I can bring to the swap if you don't find any by then and we can glue it there. LMK
I have glued my collection cup with it about 2 years ago and its still holding strong and my skimmer box split down the side about 8 months ago and its still holding fine there also.

Thanks Angela, and yeah, it's probably acrylic. I need to find some of that type of glue for other projects as well.
What dealer carries it?

You could probably bring the cup by with you and ask them which weld-on to use to fix it. It should be really easy to do. BTW, it is my understanding that the weld-on is not really glue, but a solvent that melts some of the acrylic together to form a single piece. So it wouldn't just patch the crack, but would actually "weld" the stuff together.
