Replacing a Laguna/Askoll 1500 / pinwheel issues

So my SWC 250a (non-cone skimmer) pinwheel has finally needing replaced due to broken pins. However it seems there have been many changes to the SWC skimmers w/askoll pumps (since going to the cone design). The impellers are now attached to the shaft w/metal piece where mine just has a hole to push the shaft in "interference fit". I tried an entire rotor assembly from a newer cone 300a which looked EXACTLY the same, uses the same white volute, even measured everything w/micrometer and is the same in all ways except for the metal piece holding the pinwheel on. But it did not work in my Laguna block, it jerked back n forth, spun the wrong direction and just plain didn't work. My motor block (which from the sticker I believe may be from 2004) seems to operate just fine with my original rotor assembly it's just that the pinwheel has 10-20 missing pins now. I've also heard that Hagen has made some changes to the Laguna Max Flo 1500 pump but what exactly I don't know. I know they reduced power consumption but what else ?, I've e-mailed them but no response. So what to do. I have a LG system w/lots of coral that's really missing the powerfull skimmer. I need serious HELP!!!!!!!! I'm down to just replace the entire pump and rotor (pinwheel, shaft, magnet, ect) but want one with the white SWC pinwheel. Most of the people I know who have found themselves in a situation with their SWC cone pumps just replaced the Askoll w/a BB HY-5000s but I just can't do it. I just want to return it to it's former glory. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Ya, i've talked to this shop and considered it. Do you feel it works better than the original? Did your SWC Askoll/laguna 1500 pinwheel have just a hole in the back or the metal clip? What skimmer are you using it on? Thankyou very much for your input.

Any other Pinwheels that work as well or better in an Askoll pump for a 10" diameter skimmer? Someone had mentioned a BK pinwheel that's supposed to work well. Which one I'm not sure it was a mini something.
