replacing Metal Halide Bulbs

It's time to replace my bulbs. I supplement with 4x 39w t5 true actinics. The tank is a 40b mixed reef, and the lights are about 16" above water. Can I run 20000ks to get a bluer light, or should I stick with the 14000k?

I like your set up. I am thinking of doing the same thing. 250 watt mh 14k and supplement with for true actinic t5 bulbs. Do you have pictures?

My cell phone takes lousy pictures, but you get the general idea. This is with all lights on

This is with just the halides

It looks a lot better with just the halides. Why are you supplementing with actinics?

With all the lights on, it isn't nearly as blue in person. My cell phone doesn't take a good picture. And with just the halides, it's just too white for my taste.

The makes sense. If that is the case I would stick with what you have. Generally in my reading higher k mh don't grow corals as well. Which light fixture do you have? I see that you have two mhs under the hood?

It's a retro kit from many years ago. Now it is in a diy ghetto pendant.
