Replacing Tank

Hi Guys,
As you might know, I am transferring my fish from the RSM250 to my Reefer 450.
Now,
I like to ask how do I transfer the fish (2 clowns, 1 bi-colour blenny and 1 yellow tang) to the new tank?
The new tank is going where the old tank is, I am getting new sand for the new tank, but going to be putting a cup full of old sand into the new tank to seed it. I am also thinking of getting some LR from my fish store (they already have it pre-cycled) only because my LR has algae growing on it.
Can I please have your thoughts/ideas?

I'm going to be doing the same thing before too long when I upgrade to my new tank (its currently being built by my LFS for me).

How I will be doing it is I have a another tank cycled to act as an intermittent tank to keep the fish, corals and some rock in while I swap out the tanks. The remaining rock will be stored in other containers with old tank water which I use specifically for the fish tank.

Its capable of holding them for a few weeks to allow for a mini cycle while I get the new tank running.

I have 400 lts of RODI made up ready and will keep some from the old tank to complete the fill of the new tank. I'll also seed with a few cups of sand from the old tank.

Here is what I did though my situation may be different than others.

I went from a 40 to and 80.

My 40 was on furniture sliders so I was able to slide it over so the new tank could be put in its spot (hardwood floors). Was very easy.

Setup new tank with new sand and rock. Did wc's in old tank to new tank. Let it run about a month. Used a sponge from out tank to new tank to help as well. I did buy established live rock.

I moved them this Saturday. Drained almost all the water from the 40 into buckets. Took fish and shrimp out very easily into a bucket with old water. Put some new water into the bucket but really wasn't necessary since everything matched. Then put them in new tank.

Took rock out of old tank so I could carry it to my basement and reset up the 40. Didn't move the cuc. They are still there. Just bought a new crew.

So again this might not work for all. I had enough space to run tanks side by side. I also was able to move the 40.

Just a thought if this isn't possible. Get a 20Long tank and put it somewhere else. Take rock from current setup and drain water into bucket to fill the 20. Obviously anything else you need ie phs. Then breakdown old tank and setup new one. Id use new sand personally. You could use some of the old rock and get some new rock. I don't think you'd see much of a cycle.

I should caution sliding may not be good depending on the stand. I just happen to have a sturdy stand on my 40 and the tank didn't shift at all. You could always drain current tank way down, take out some rock and move it. It would be an extra step. You could temporarily put the fish in a bucket. That way the tank is moved from the spot you want the new tank.

I had the guy from my LFS help me who has done a lot of these moves. I'm not saying there aren't many ways but this worked perfect.
