requesting some live rock- ask me before posting

If anyone has some live rock to sell please ask me if I need some before you post please. I have been trying for a month or more to get some and am never first in line, please sell me your rock before you post it. Once I have enough I will let everyone know.

So now were making demands?? What ever happen to being FAIR. You know the Good ol' American way of life, First come, first served. Now we have to cater to everyone else's needs/wants?? I sure wasn't first to Sarmack's house when he sold all his LR, In fact I was the dead last person to buy it. Your post is a bit offensive and I quote "Once I have enough I will let everyone know." What make's you better than the rest of us?? I'm not trying to be rude or nasty here nor am I yelling. Just pointing out that IMO your thread was rather inconsiderate of others and quite self centered, And I thought this club was about and here to help others as well as yourself NOT just yourself.

I think it's almost time to buy on-line. Buy it for just over $3 a pound and use it. I have no idea when you're setting your tank up, but even if you buy "cured" rock on-line you'll only have to re-cure it yourself for about 2 weeks.

That's just my opinion, I may be wrong though.

I've noticed your are requesting LR about every third day, but demanding that everyone else sell it to you before anyone else gets a chance to purchase it seems a little selfish.

Man I do like my rock, and it was no tthat expensive. Came out to about $3.75 a pound with shipping. Cured in about 2 weeks, left it in the tub for another to be sure...

Or go to GWA and beg Chad for the Saturday frag swap special for $3 a pound. You knew about that one, or should have. I am certain I mentioned it in oone of your previous posts Steph...

Well I see a point to that statement. This is her thread asking for live rock. But someone will post they have some, and then another person will come on the thread and buy it before she gets a chance to respond. On a day when you can sit here all day and keep refreshing the window, it wouldn't matter I guess.

rocks a hot commodity when multiple people are setting up new tanks. I wanted to wait for the $3 a pound but knew how many people were looking for it so I just bucked up and got the $4 rock from gwa when you buy over 50 lbs. what's more valuable? your time or a rock?

I know it was suggested to get on the $3 a lb at GWA frag swap sale. Sometimes you gatta bite the bullet and buck up some. Ordering online and taking advantages of sales are good solutions.

Honestly I think everyone here knows your looking for rock. If someone else needs some and they see it first then I bet they go get it. I dont blame you for posting this though, its not a bad idea, but I think it will rub people the wrong way. No one is going to sell rock cheaper than it has been offered in the past couple of weeks at $3-4 a lb.

Hell When I set up the cube I paid between $8-9 lb because I only knew a few stores and didnt want to wait for somebody to sell their rock. Its not something that comes up for sale to often in large quantities and when it does its gone very quick.

If you start bumping this request thread its going to get annoying.

I wasn't trying to be rude. I wasn't demanding I was asking please. I have posted several times I need rock and then someone turns around and posts they have it not long after and I'm never first in line. So was hoping if someone had some coming available they would ask me first, it's not like am asking for it free or anything. Sorry to offend anyone. I was just trying to get first debs, sinc eit is hard for me to check this during the day by the time I get home it is usually gone. Sorry.

3.00 a pound and then shipping added makes it about $5 a pound. I'm can just by it from the LFS for that. Plus most people are selling it with coralline on it and all which would make it easier for me to get my tank set up faster. again sorry if I offended. My last remark was so if I did get enough I would let people know so they weren't waiting for a response from me before posting. Nothing rude was meant by the forum. again sorry.

depending on how much rock you have now, and how much you are looking for Base rock can seed up quickly under the right conditions

When I was getting prices on 75#'s it was less than $3.50/per pound shipped.

Also Try Gateway they have a good price on there live rock there too.

You have seen my tank and I have over 50% base rock in the tank.

I did go to gwa during the 3.75 and ended up with three rather large rocks and almost cost me $100.00, sorry can't afford to buy all I need at that price. again I don't plan on bumping this to keep it high just trying to get someone's attention that might be selling rock soon to hopefully get me a shot at buying it first. How much do I need is not quite sure. Probably about 50 to 100 pounds more when all said and done. I have about 50 pounds and didn't do a whole lot of filling, so I am think anywhere between 50 to 100 pounds more. sorry to offend anyone.

Why would rock with coralline on it make you set up your tank faster? Any live rock you buy will have useful bacteria in it.

seems like it is alot easier to get coralline growing when you already have move of it in the tank to start out. Anyways, they cna erase this thread if it is causing problems between me and the members, I didn't mean it to be one.

It's not causing problems. I think it's just people have seen plenty of threads asking for live rock.

Items for sale are just a timing thing.

When people are ready to get rid of it you just have to be kind of lucky to get it.

If you don't want to wait just buy it. Depending on how much you want you can pay between 3.50 and 4.00 a pound.

I would agree with you 100%, It is a lot easier IMO to have continued growth of coralline algae if you have some rocks already covered with it. Another very CHEAP and EASY way of doing such is to dose with pickling lime. I know the feeling of frustration with always missing what you need/want. I work 12 to 14 hours 5 days a week, and I miss a lot of good opportunities. I would have posted a thread stating WTB LR or Looking to buy LR and then just kept bumping it until you got what you needed. IMO that's part of the reason to have the forum and I wouldn't be annoyed if someone bump there thread, Heck when someone is selling something they bump it until it's sold. Anyway, I'm sorry that my first post was so harsh, It was JMHO and I didn't find it fair to those of us who are also in your situation. Kind of like being at the store and some one cut's in front of the line, such an action causes a reaction.
