Required reading

Looking for suggestions on books to obtain that talk about identifying different coral and maybe even propagation.

I know a lot comes from experience but i wouldn't mind reading from other peoples experience.

Want to be able to identify morphs and tell whats rare and what's not. what's not colored right because it's not healthy, etc.

Reef aquarium volume 3. Even know it's not specific to prop.. Still a great resource to grow corals. I read calfo's book last year and was very unimpressed.

Yep I forgot those - The Reef Aquarium Volumes 1,2,3 by J.C. Delbeek and J. Sprung.

I think Calfo's book has some value but to each his own.

Can you elaborate on why you did not enjoy the book? Was it too informative, colorful, or technical for your taste? I don't think Greys Anatomy would be a fun reference book either if read cover to cover, however it does maintain it's place within the medical field, just as Anthonys book is an excellent reference for our field.

Thats the point, a reference book is just that, a book to refer to, there is no 'Blue Book of Coral Values'.

About the best that you can do is go online and compare prices with vendors. That also probably means placing a few orders with them to see what the price online and also what size that they ship, the best thing to do is to price what you like and get it and raise that, you will know what you paid, and soon have any idea of how solid an item that they are for you.
