restarted an older tank

so some of you may have seen this tank while it was still running... since i started a new 75g i stopped this one due to the tank needing some tlc. its been cleaned up new braces redone silicone work and everything. now its up and has been up for a few weeks with some established rock sitting on bare glass getting ready to dump in some new "dead" sand in a couple days when the shipment arrives. after the dust storm settles and i run some charcoal for a couple days i want to setup a basic tank for the wife to run... no corals or anything just yet just a few fish and i want to make sure that the stock list i helped put together with her isnt too big a load for this older 75g tank... its a standard 48x18 footprint but shes looking to have 2 clowns, a yellow watchman goby, 3-5 blue green reef chromis, a couple shrimp(none decorative) just the simple kinds, and we havent thought of the star fish yet but it will probably be a really pretty wrasse.

so heres the quick count

2x oscellaris clowns
1x yellow watchman goby
3-5x blue/green chromis
2 shrimp
and a wrasse

this should be a fairly small load to handle for a rookie whats all of your thoughts... please be critical if called for as im still a little wet behind the ears myself

Sounds good, you shouldn't have any issues with those guys, depending on what type of shrimp and wrasse you choose. I think a fairy would be nice in that setup. Good luck with the setup. when you say none decorative, what exactly do you mean? A pair of cleaners or blood shrimp would be good with that group as long as you stick with fairy wrasses and such.

by decorative i meant those super colorful ones i cant remember their names... but the simple white and reds i was thinking those one that i can have 2 or 3 of. I just dont want to overstock this tank and add to the maintenance road. its for the wife and i want to get her addicted to the tank not so much to the work. if she decides to hate it that way i can turn it into a softie tank.

Sounds a fairly straight forward and simple setup perfect for a not-so-addicted spouse

As far as a show wrasse goes, I just added a lubbocks fairy to me 125 and the only time I ever see it is during feeding times. He's only been a resident for a week now though, so that could change. My next wrasse is going to be a blue flasher wrasse, which despite their name are actually a brilliant red color. Maybe you could get one of those?

why two chromis? isnt this a fairly small bioload for a tank that will have about 80 lbs of rock? we would like to have a schooling effect and i dont think 2 will give us the look shes going for.

What about a "schooling" of Bangai Cardinals?

i have never really been a cardinal fan... however its the wifes tank so i will show her some bangais... plus they are equally as hardy.
