Restaurant Depot account holder?

I wanted to stop by Restaurant Depot in Pompano to check out their packaging, bottles, jugs, deli containers for frags, etc.
Unfortunately, they won't sell to the public.
Is anyone here a member that I could go there with next time you're going, or that maybe could put my name as a guest?
I'd be happy to repay the favor with the usual club thank you... a frag, of course. :D
Thanks in advance.

Last time we talked them into giving us a one time guest pass. Christy is planning to sign up (apparently, her FL bar membership card is good enough), after that we'll be able to buy stuff anytime. We went to the one on 84 in Davie.

I am a member......Let me know if you still need it.....we can meet up there one weekend and I will add you as a guest....

Awesome. Thanks nrb.
I'm going to see if I can get my own membership based on a dba and business checking account I have for an online business, but failing that, I know now I'll at least be able to still shop there thanks to you.
Just let me know when you're going next time and I'll meet you there.

I am planning to go to General Hotel & Restaurant Supply tommorrow, it's right across the highway from my office in Miami Lakes.

Jeff, how much did those plastic containers run you? So I can compare the prices.

We spent $20 total for 100 containers and lids. On average, $4 would get you either of the following

25 32 oz. containers, or
50 16 oz. containers (we used these the most), or
50 lids

I think next time we may buy them by the case, because it gets even cheaper.

That's almost as cheap as baggies.
I know the 9.5oz gladware disposable containers cost me about $0.41 each.
I'll definitely be getting a case of the 16oz. and lids.

I have a feeling that's all we'll be seeing at the next frag swap. ;)

the plastic containers are great, i thought you guys just liked chinese soup. it is good to know you can get those locally i'd be into a bulk buy on those.

It's awesome to see the container idea take off like this. We went with the containers simply because I'm an abysmal bagger. I don't think there's a LFS out there that would ever employ me. :D

I don't remember how many were in a case, since we didn't seriously consider them at the time. I do remember that they were $25-30+, and at that price they would have to contain 8-10 stacks.

jess, I do love a good hot & sour soup, but I prefer a clean container for my acro frags. :D

Customer, "What kind of coral is that? Some type of Xenia?"

Jeff, "Oops, no,... that's just a noodle."

I'm a crappy bagger too, so I've been using the deli containers for a long time. I just reused the ones I get from the deli at the grocery store. But it looks as if my need for containers now exceeds my macaroni and potato salad consumption :)

Just got back from looking at their containers.
In my opinion it looked like the round containers were the sturdiest and had the best shape/volume.

Clear round 16oz "soup" containers 500/case = $37.68 or about .08¢ ea.

Clear round lids for containers above 500/case = 28.58 or about .06¢ ea.

16oz clear square containers w/ hinged lid 200/case = $ 32.25 or about .16¢ ea.

16oz clear square containers with flat lids 250/case = $33.44 or about .13¢ ea.

General Hotel Supply doesn't carry the deli containers at all. Called Miami Restaurant and Bar Supply, they want $ 28.75 for 125 containers and lids, works out to .23 cents a piece, so yours work out much cheaper. If you are doing a buy, I'll take 100 each.

I'd be interested in 100-200 myself.
I bet we could get enough takers to make a case buy, or two.
Next frag swap will be here before you know it.

I'm also looking for small styrofoam shipping coolers, about 12"x12", and the cardboard box containers they fit in if anyone knows where to get them.

Do any of you Ebay/ship corals and fish?
What do you use for shipping?
Everyone I've bought from on Ebay always ships in nice little coolers with heat/cold packs.
