Resun wave maker

That's what you want Tim, high gph but a nice laminar flow. so if it seems less than 4K that's probably why. Anyway 4K is a lot you should see it move particles at the other end of a 6' tank, if not I'd say its less than 4K probably.
Maybe we can grab a bite tonight and stop by and see it in action, heck its always cold and icy when we come over anyway :)

Stick an airline hose between the slots. Its should suck in some air and would be able to see what the dispersion of the pump would be. I did that when I first got my Tunze's.

Dang Russ you are smart. I just dumped some food in and watched it flow to the other end of the tank in a couple seconds so I figured that must have been about 5800 :smokin:

Russ, are you adding more Tunze's in the new tank or considering these or something cheaper?

I will upgrade the Tunzes from the 6000 to the 6100s when the upgrade happens. With the CL, it should be enough. Good thing about Tunze is you can upgrade the driver without buying the whole thing.

I have a pretty big syringe that I was going to use to blow some air into the propeller.

ahhh I didn't know that with Tunze, the smaller ones do have the same dimensions so a driver change does it then huh? Nice, I guess for the money they do have an advantage or 2 atleast ;)

Timbo.............I'll be by tonight to check it out, will it be in the tank or do I have to suffer and watch it swirl water in a bucket ?

you got that right Todd, Tim is a ho alright.
I'll frag something for you tonight, its big and brown so make some room up high so you can try to color it up!

Ummmm, thats ex ho.

I could go drop something big and brown in the tank right now but I think I'll wait.

I installed the pump tonight and it's working fine. Hard to believe it's actually moving that amount of water. The Don is coming over in a few to check it out and school me on water flow. I could definitely throw two more in and still not blast the corals or sand around.

Need pics!
Ok here it is in the left corner at a 45 degree angle pointed at the front glass.

It works good! It is pretty large, larger that I was imagining, I'd say wider than my 6200 and the same length just a little more low profile. I love the flow though, it really is hard to describe but its a very very wide pattern, no sand blowing. I think 2 more and you'll be set. I'd aim those sump returns at the surface to get some good ripples going. I think with 3 or 4 of these you have no need for a closed loop, but you'll lose room for corals so it's a trade off.

I just ordered two more of these.

Does anyone know how to make one or if there is a timer that I can push a button and turn these off for feeding time.

On my current wave maker I have a feeding button to push and it's time adjustable. I want this capability to plug all three into.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.
