Resun Waver-15000

It is to bad that no one has come out with a very similar design as a tunze with the reliability of a tunze, for a much cheaper price...I know it can be done, just need some one to do it...The company who would do it would make a killing...

All in all I think the modified maxi jets are about the best bang for the buck these days.
I've got one zip tied to the output of a sea swirl and it's probably the best water movement setup I've ever used.

:) I did that with my Tunze's

HIHI
I bought my resun waver about a month and a half ago with no problems but I found that the 10 second high setting was'nt enough so I bought this power supply (and the transformer that it needs) http://www.hobbytron.com/Power-Supply2.html and its been running all out for about 2 weeks with no problems (running at 24vDC/1.5amps). Its got 2 pots one to adjust amps (0-1.5 amps) and another to controll voltage (0-30volts). If anybody else trys this out keep in mind that the heat sink needs to be kept cool to operate at high current for long periods of time.

-This thing puts out tons of flow-

I think they are okay for a tanks 50 gallon or smaller, other than that the wave settings are just too short to create much motion in a larger tank. They would be better if the controller had a setting that allowed you to run it wide open for a minute or two, and then cycle it down to 20% for a minute, etc.

Mine lasted about 9 months and then died, so I'd be curious to hear how long they lated for other people.

Is the SunSun powerhead the same as the Resun Wavemaker without the controller?

I was thinking of trying the Resun, but think I will wait until they come out with one with a magnetic base.

The SunSun powerheads are pretty cheap on Ebay.

Thanks
Jack

Not only it has a magnet holder, but also a "new and improved" time controller, suposed to be more stable. They call it version 4.

Anyone has any ideia on this so called improvement?

mine has been running for more than 2 years now... 2 of them in standard / stock mode while a 3rd one has by diy'ed by a couple of friends in a local forum here into the equivalent of a Tunze Wavebox...

I know this thread is really old, but I had one of these and was really unhappy with the shortness of the stream timing, especially on the high end, so I hacked the control box.

It's actually really simple. By changing certain capacitors in the box you can change the timing. I have the "small" setting running for less than 1 second, the "middle" setting for between 10 to 50 seconds and the "big" setting runs now for between 30 seconds and 2.5 minutes. If there's interest I will post pics and instructions.
