My hammer was doing very well from about the very first day I received it. It was in a moderate light area of the tank. After the first month of having it, it started opening less and less. I moved it, into a lower light area of the tank (still low to moderate... the same level of light that an elegance is getting -- which is doing very well).
params:
65 gallon tank
temp 83
pH peaks at 8.17
alk 3
Ca 380 (little low, but I dont think this would cause it to start dying).
phosp ~0
nitrate <2
lighting is LED's 1/2 cool white/ 1/2 royal blue. 36 of them at about 70% power (5 watts each).
It's in a low flow area.
Side note.. My other corals and anemones are doing well. Elegance I got same time as the hammer (July), doing great. RBTA's with rosy bubbly tips, xmas rock with spreading (growing) porites (had for over a year).
I did a Coral Rx dip a few days ago as well. There was no rxn + or -
It is not yet pulling off the sides of the base (which I've seen in other receding hammers). It's just always very retracted.
Pic below. It is not this blue at all.. It's actually a pinkish color, with slightly blue tips.
What should I do?
